2005 honda civic 1.6 vtec se - acceleration problem - elekie&a/c doctor : The vtec variable timing valve system works from the engine oil pressure system.That is why the oil level and grade must be correct.It is possible that the vtec operating valve has become sludged up.It will need removing to clean out the mesh filtration system.hth
Timing has been checked this is ok. Done all above you have suggested, vtec pressure switchand solenoid, idle air control valve, oil pressure switch etc. Car seems to run better pulls well until you get to exactly 4000 revs in every gear then it is like the rec limiter kicks in and will not go past 4000 revs and when you slow down to a stop it is occasionaly hunting.
